What an amazing New Member Picnic on Sunday, August 29. There was a 90% chance of rain, but miraculously, the rain stopped as we were getting ready for our ride. We left on time, and the rain held off until our visit at Botham Vineyards was complete. Absolutely amazing!!!

We met at Terry McGovern’s store for our monthly Porsches & Kringles at 8:30am. The coffee was fresh, and the Kringles from our local bakery, Lane’s Bakery, were delicious. Of course, Porsche conversations could be heard everywhere.

Twenty-five Porsches of all shapes and sizes were ready to go on this fun-filled ride with beautiful views, curvy roads and corn fields everywhere. The winery location is beautifully tucked in among the hills and fields of south-central Wisconsin.

Terry McGovern led the first twelve cars to Botham Vineyards, with Mike Grimm leading the remaining thirteen cars fifteen minutes later.  Terry and Mike have led many rides in the last two years, and these guys know how to lead!  In the sweep car, Joyce and David Rolnick could see the long line of Porsches sweeping through the countryside.

When the members arrived at Botham Vineyards, owner Peter Botham greeted us and helped us all park safely. Peter and his wife Sarah were wonderful hosts!

Soon after parking, we moved on over to the lunch line where our luncheon was catered by a local caterer, Middleton BBQ.  Thank you Middleton BBQ, for a delicious lunch.  You completed our ride with large quantities of delicious food.

Then, to our surprise, Jean Elliott brought out dessert.  Fresh apples from their property, making us apple crisp with whipped cream.  Oh my gosh…. Amazing! Thank you, thank you, Jean!

After our lunch, Peter Botham took us on a tour of his winery.  Most of us, if not all of us, did not realize how much work is involved in owning a winery, and making the final product.

Botham Vineyards was founded in 1989. Botham Vineyards grows and produces regionally distinctive wines of international acclaim. This is a true vine-to-bottle Wisconsin winery; authentic and a true Wisconsin original. They welcome guests in a vibrant tasting room that offers multiple tasting and pairing options, The wines are smooth and full of unique flavors. They have a great selection of whites and reds.

If you are looking for an amazing winery, want to learn about winemaking and enjoy sitting in a beautiful setting, you must visit Botham Vineyards.

One thing we must mention…. We love supporting local businesses  and we hope you patronize the folks who provide us with bakery, wine, cheese and anything and everything else for our rides. A big thank you to McGovern & Sons paint store for hosting our monthly Porsches and Kringles.
